OTTC (Одобрение типа транспортного средства, Type Approval Certificate for Wheeled Vehicles) is a mandatory certification procedure carried out in accordance with the technical regulation TR TC 018/2011 of the Eurasian Economic Union "On Wheeled Vehicle Safety". Obtaining an OTTC certificate is a necessary condition for manufacturers to legally place their products on the markets of Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Armenia. 

OTTC certification is an indispensable document for vehicles to enter the Russian market. Without it, vehicles cannot be sold or used in Russia. OTTC certification raises the threshold for vehicles to enter the Russian market, eliminates non-compliant vehicles, ensures the quality of vehicles on the market, and regulates the market environment.

Why is it important to obtain an OTTC for your product?

The vehicle type approval belongs to the certificate category of Russia’s compulsory certification, and it is a kind of Russian Gost-R certificate.Obtaining the Russian vehicle approval certificate OTTC proves that the vehicle meets the Russian safety standardsis a necessary condition for any vehicle to enter Russia and run on Russian roads.

ERA-GLONASS, an automatic emergency call system, provides rapid assistance via emergency cellular service and reduces casualties in the event of an accident. ERA-GLONASS has been compulsory since 1 January, 2017 and is now an integral part of OTTC which requires In Vehicle Systems (IVS) within the EEC member states to be equipped with ERA-GLONASS.

Vehicle Type approval is done as marking in line with the 2007/46 standard. The OTTC process does not include this certification. Even if the homologation processes of your vehicles are made according to the relevant directives, it is mandatory to obtain an OTTC Certificate by making a relevant application before being sent to the Customs Union member countries.
